  This map of Edo, drawn on a scale of 1/8 inch to 6 feet, was published in 5 sheets by Kyōziya Kahei, Edo.
  One of five maps of the city, titled "Shinpan Edo Ōezu" and issued in 1670; the other four are those of the suburbs of Edo, titled "Shinpan Edo Soto Ezu" issued in 1671, 1672, 1673.
  Beans' entry No. 1671.2 is just one of them.
  These accurate maps, the results of surveying methods learned from the Dutch, were published by order of the government after a big fire of 1657.
  "Bunken Edo Zu" (1690.1 in Supplement A, page 11) is not the same map mentioned in the preface of "Tōkaidō Bunken Ezu" but its reduced edition which corresponds to Tōkaidō (1690.2).
