      This work, compiled by order of the Daimyo of Awa province, Shikoku, relates the story of Hatsutarō's journey from Japan in October 1841, his shipwreck in February 1842, rescue by a Spanish vessel, arrival at Lower California and Mexico, and eventual return to Canton.
      These volumes contain numerous coloured drawings, of which three in the first volume are of cartographic interest.
