    • Description:5 clay tablets ; in box, 30 x 24 x 6 cm.
    • Notes:Cuneiform tablets discovered at Ur in Chaldea in the course of excavations carried on between 1905 and 1912 A.D. by Yale University under the direction of Professor A.T. Clay.
The tablets date from the reigns of Dungi and his successor Bur-Sin, between 2456 and 2390 B.C. They record and acknowledge the receipt of rent paid in kind to the temple authorities. Tablets A, B and C are from the reign of Dungi. Tablets D and E are from the reign of Bur-Sin.
The inscription on tablet "E" records the name of King Bur-Sin, the year "in which Huhnuri was destroyed" (2392 B.C.) and the receipt by a temple official of "one sheep and one lamb on the thirteenth day of the month".
Most of the tablets are square or rectangular in shape and range in size from 3 x 3 cm. to 5 x 6 cm. Coloration varies from light to dark.
All tablets are inscribed on both front and back.
