Biography/history note:Robert Mathison, originally from Belleville, Ontario, arrived in Vancouver in 1886 at the age of 20. He was the first to set up specifically as a "job printer" in Vancouver, just after the fire that destroyed much of the fledgling city in June 1886. He operated as a job printer until 1890, at which point he sold the business to E.W. Evans and T.W.Hastings.
