Major settlements; forts; major waterways.
Map clearly shows border between United States and British Columbia - Rupert Land. Numerous forts shown, including Ft. Selkirk (Yukon), Fort Simpson (Prince Rupert), Fort Garry (Winniped), Fort Providence (Yellowknife), and Fort Vancouver (Portland, Ore.). Abandoned (?) forts include Old Fort Kootanie, Old Fort St. John, and other unamed ones. Edmonton is illustrated, but Calgary, Regina, or Saskatoon are not. Many islands on B.C. 's coast have dotted outlines still, and Alaska is Russian Territory. B.C. and Vancouver Island appear to be separate colonial entities still. The Nass River is the "Simpson or Banine" River, and the Stikine River is the "Frances" River.
